The 1957 musical “West Side Story” is one of the most iconic American musicals, but it rarely tours. The show is expensive to stage and demands a cast who can sing, act and dance like their lives depend on it. On Chicago Tonight at 7:00 pm, we go backstage alongside a pair of performers with local roots who are helping to take “West Side Story” on a tour across the country.

The stage version of “West Side Story” is playing at the Cadillac Palace Theatre in Chicago’s Loop, for eight performances a week through August 14.
