On a Dec 4th phone call, Lon Monk tells Blagojevich he should call John Johnston for his contribution “from a pressure point of view.”
Blagojevich agrees, but in court today he says he never made the call because he didn’t want to put pressure on Johnston. His attorney Aaron Goldstein asked him why he had originally agreed to make the call.
“Sometimes my words outpace my ideas and my judgement,” he said.
Goldstein then asked him if he was holding the racetrack bill up to get a contribution from Johnston.
“No, absolutely not. My intention was to follow the law,” he said.
The jury was dismissed until Tuesday at 9:30 am.
