Bill McCarter
June 10, 1929 - April 21, 2011

WTTW’s former CEO and President, William J. McCarter, passed away last week. Under his watch, WTTW became the country’s most-watched public television station and won more than 100 regional Emmys, among other awards. McCarter was instrumental in developing WTTW shows like Chicago Tonight, Chicago Tonight: Week in Review, The McLaughlin Group, Wild Chicago and Soundstage.

Chicago Tonight pays tribute to McCarter tonight at 7:00 pm.
