Matt Kelly: Pan Am Pedaler

Most of us like to bike, but few like it this much.

Matt Kelly, 27, just finished riding his bicycle from Prudhoe Bay in Alaska to Ushuaia, Argentina, widely considered the southernmost city in the world. His total miles logged number more than 17,500.

Along the way, he met other cyclists on cross-country trips who made his trip less solitary, keeping a blog and photo gallery to stay in touch. He camped almost every night for 21 months. He didn’t see his family for two years.

He’s on Chicago Tonight at 7:00 pm to tell us about his travels and what it feels like to have biked the entire American continent.

During the last half of the trip, Kelly started recording 500-mile updates to let friends and family know how he was doing. Here’s his last update, just one day from completing his ride:
