Blagojevich Blog: It’s Over

Rod Blagojevich’s defense team has told the judge that they are resting their case. Without calling a single witness, including testimony long promised from the ex-governor, it’s over.

Blagojevich will make a statement when court ends today.

The ex-governor and his wife appear to love the PR…They love their names and faces in the news and know something financial will come from it someday, as it did even before the trial. Chicago politics is in the limelight again around the country and it’s going to be hard to live this one down, regardless of the outcome. I’m glad the trial is shortened, so the state of Illinois can save some money. If convicted, maybe ex-gov Blagojevich can share a cell with ex-gov Ryan ? They can keep each other company and tell bedtime stories. Once upon a time, when I was governor….

No real surprise here. Money didn’t change hands, and even the case for conspiracy seems weak. Blago has shown himself to have the strength of wet cardboard under the lightest questioning, so the defense team decided that he couldn’t improve his chances by taking the stand. Was this the plan from the beginning? I say yes.

Amazing that the two Trial Consultants know that all the jurors have lost respect for Blago after ‘seeing’ the tapes. There may be a juror or more that still really like Blago… that remains to be seen, but to assume Blago is already despised by the jury is ridiculous.
Remarkable that the former prosecuting attorneys say ‘oh, the defense team has to say…’ Doesn’t that work both ways?? The prosecutors have to say certain things to seem confident in their case, also. And while there is so much speculation as to why Blago didn’t testify, why is there no media speculation as to why the prosecution’s witnesses were not called in to testify? I am wondering why they didn’t put Jessie Jr., Resko (well, he is a liar) and others on the stand to testify. If I were on the jury, I would be wondering about the prosecution, too.
Was Blago a bad gov absolutely, but that is not against the law. We have had and still have bad politicians, and sadly, I am sure we will continue to have bad politicians.
As for Patti not showing up for a paying job… if the Feds decide to prosecute her for that ~ they will need to go after 90+% of City, County and State employees.

Blagojevich will be found guilty of crimes, which counts I prefer to take a wait and see approach. What is disturbing is how the Dirkson federal crowd allows crimes to accumulate and then act. They are appallingly disturbed and waste tax payor moneys by not pursuing offenders from the moment crimes commence. Clearly the citizens of Illinois have been tested by a government at all levels in all branches that has spent its good will. I am especially troubled by the panelists of attorneys on the show wednesday-devoted entirely to the trial, Cramer in particular seems to lightly tread on the fate of those whose hell he persued and now seeks to abate. This whole trial along with the Burge affair sheds light on a municipality that operates superbly but for the law enforcement community and other. No one can trust government. Certainly in my case, the municipality of Cook county is so wacked out and corrupt it would amaze reasonable people the nazistic corruption and monopolization of power to primarily steal assets. If people like me are the kind of guy’s you love to hate, I counter that is an act to cover for the true intentions of a governmnent and certain civilians that is on the edge and will go mad if given the opportunity. Blago is an ill man, and we must take pity. The Dirkson federal crowd are equally ill and their peeers are responsible for events that lead to september 11, 2001. All the parties in the court room that are on government salaries have disgraced the citizens of the U.S. When we empower those who are clearly mentally deranged without having placed them under a huge battery of psychological tests to start, the results should not surprise. If they thought well of me, I would just assume be labeled a Hitler. May the law enforcement community in Cook county rot in hell, they are the culprits that have exacerbated this Blagojevich affair and are lunatics in their approach.
